Suitable for raising seeds and cuttings, plants can be grown until they are strong enough to plant out without the need for ‘pricking out’ and ‘potting on’.
Reusable Rootrainer Sets have 32 hinged segments, specially grooved to encourage the production of strong, straight roots and to stop the plant from becoming ‘pot bound’.
Each segment is used to grow one plant, without disturbance, until it is ready for planting out.
The hinged design allows the plant to be removed without damaging the root system.
Each Rootrainer Set is supplied complete with a compact 8" (20cm) x 14" (35.5cm) holder enabling easy handling and maintenance.
Two depths available:
5" (13cm) ideal for trees and deep rooted subjects.
3" (7.5cm) more suited to shallow rooted subjects such as bedding plants etc.
Specially designed, optional, 31⁄2" (9cm) high clear vacuum formed covers help to
retain warmth and moisture encouraging growth.
The main root grows straight down the grooved cell towards the large drainage opening at the bottom
The root tip makes contact with the air and dies off
The plant then compensates by producing new root growth with no root balls

ROOTRAINERS
Rootrainers
Propagating System – Rootrainers provide the perfect start for all seeds, seedlings, plugs and cuttings, especially those that require deep root runs and those that are sensitive to root disturbance.
The Rootrainers hinged design allows the plant to be removed without damaging the root system.
The rst roots race down the special grooves and quickly emerge through the drainage holes. The tips die off naturally causing masses of side roots to develop higher in the cell. This results in a super root system all set to feed the perfect plant.
The process of ‘air pruning’ encourages vigorous and strong root formation; roots grow straight, avoiding root balls and pot bound plants.
Deep RootrainersTM
Deep Rootrainers suitable for propagating and cultivating nearly all plants,
trees, shrubs, herbaceous, fruit
and vegetables; especially those
that have deep fast growing roots such as sweet peas and beans.
Rapid RootrainersTM
Perfect for all bedding and container plants, salads and herbs.
Maxi RootrainersTM
The largest modular Rootrainer in the range, perfect for broadleaved trees grown
on a long cycle to larger salable sizes
and for plants destined for dry sites.
Please Note: Rigid trays are an essential part of the system. Propagating lids are not available for the Maxi.
Compact RootrainersTM
Compact Rapid Rootrainers are designed for smaller scale growing with all the features of original Rootrainers in a more compact module.
